Are we on our way to a Happy 2050?
We have made some serious promises to ourselves for the year 2050. To take two examples that resonate with me – as a French citizen now living in San Francisco – both France and California endorse targets to reduce emissions to roughly 80% below 1990 levels by the year 2050.
That’s a good start. Probably. So why exactly can’t I shake the feeling of confusion and doubt?
It looks like we need yet another site on environmental sustainability!
As an avid reader of everything “sustainable development”, I find myself in information overflow. Renewable energy, clean coal, CO2 sequestration and other technology breakthrough: you name it, I read about it!
The problem: I am often unable to decide whether the cool innovation I just heard about is anecdotal, with marginal impact at best, or if it represents the cornerstone of a thought-through solution to the climate & energy crisis.
This site is my attempt to wrap my mind around what the big picture really looks like today and decide for myself whether I can confidently expect 2050 to be a happy year.
All you need is … structure.
As I am connecting the dots, I will post my research and findings.
The first step of the journey is to clearly articulate what we are up against: what are precisely the non-negotiable facts of this climate & energy crisis in the making?
This is the type of exercise that makes you fall off you chair. But I’ll get right back on it to look at the solutions, across all industries, whether scientific, technological, regulatory or financial to genuinely understand whether the current plan of action is leading us towards a Happy 2050.
Welcome!
Thank you for stopping by. Your comments and feedback are welcome.
I hope I help you connect the dots too, so we can knowingly push all together for the right decisions and make 2050 a happy year indeed.
